An American splurged $83,000 (more than Rs 38 lakh ) for an eight-course meal for friends at one of the Indian restaurants in London. The bill at the Tamarind in central London was the largest the restaurant had seen. The anonymous customer from New York was a regular at Tamarind, dining there two to three times a month.

You may not like to dole out Rs 38 lakh at one go, but throwing a lavish bash may just spice up your weekend fun. After toiling hard for five days at work and earning your bucks, weekend is the time to relax and splurge. But, how and where?

Friday afternoon

On Fridays, as soon as work gets over, most of us take the fast lane to the nearest pub. This may not be the sexiest idea to spend Friday night, as a hangover may spoil your Saturday fun. Instead go to a parlour. Groom yourself up for the weekend. A good body massage will rejuvenate you. Fork out Rs 5,000 and get a fresh and new look.

Go back home early and catch a late night movie with your spouse. If nothing of your choice is on TV, buy some latest DVDs. Check out weekend newspaper supplements and magazines. Spend a thousand bucks and possess some evergreen classics or contemporary hits.

Saturday:

If you are a member of the local golf club, you can spend your Saturday morning teeing away. If not, get yourself enrolled fast. If golf doesn’t excite you, you can try other sports as well. Swimming can be great fun. It helps you to keep in shape. With Sania mania sweeping the country, tennis is also a hot option.

Afternoon is the time for shopping. Check out the latest mobiles in the town. Your mobile tells a lot about your lifestyle and also your pay package.

Time is precious and so are watches too. Nowadays, the luxury watch market is throwing up more high-priced options. Watches are about diamond-studded dials, gold cases and fancy leather straps. So if you're up to spending heavily on timepieces, there are options galore in the market. Check out stores that stock Breguet, Movado or Cartier.

For eves, how can you forget diamonds? Set a date with your best friend. Your Monday will be much better.

Last but not the least; your dresses are your ultimate fashion statement. So, don’t let your wardrobe look older even by a week. Check out the latest trends so that you continue to be the style icon in your office. And hey babes, don’t get jealous of your colleague for her sexy shoes. Just go and grab a better one.

Evenings should be relaxed and flow easily. If you are teetotaller, watch the latest movie with your family. For those singletons, take out your girlfriend to multiplexes and ask her to choose her favourite movie. After the movie, go for a lavish dinner. Forget those regular dishes. Experiment with cuisines from different parts of the world. If this weekend you try Thai dishes, check out Mexican or Lebanese the next time.

For wine lovers, try out the Pinotage, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, which are generally available only in the star hotels and best restaurants. Try salmon for dinner. You can splurge anywhere between Rs 2,000 and Rs 5,000 on such a dinner.

Young executives may like to hit the dance floor in discos. Starting with Rs 500 for entry, there’s no limit to how much you spend inside a discotheque.

If you want all your friends enjoy together, you can throw a bash yourself. Serve the best wines in the town and innovate with some stylish yet tasty dishes. Spend a few bucks and get a professional to set the menu right.

And if you are one who doesn’t like the hullabaloo of discos and multiplexes, fill up the fuel tank of your car and drive up to the nearest hill station or beach. You may visit a spa as well.

Sunday:

Sunday is the time to laze around. Spend your time with family and friends. You can afford to sleep late. Go out for a quality lunch with your friends or family. Or, you may go out for a daylong picnic. Hire a luxury car for such trips. Enjoy the journey instead of driving yourself.

If you love reading books, buy the latest bestsellers. Check out book review sections of magazines and newspapers.

Spare an hour or two to make calls to your friends in the evening. This is the way you can stay in touch with your friends and relatives. This will also justify why you took high-rental bill plan for your cell phone connection.

Sunday evening, you can cook for yourself and your spouse. Or you may choose to go out for a candlelight romantic dinner. Surprise your beloved by giving him or her some expensive gifts.

Well all this will surely set you back by a few thousand. But what the heck, you’ll be back at your desk on Monday, rejuvenated and ready to take the world
